Recycled plastic trays
Wynalda Litho offers a recycled plastic tray. The trays are identical to the slimline DVD trays and are made from 100% recycled plastic, 35% of it is post consumer and the remaining 65% is post industrial. The availability for these trays is good for small quantities but there is a lead time for larger orders and the price is slightly higher than the virgin plastic counterpart.

A Note about Corn Plastic:
There are plastics that are made from organic materials like corn and are called polylactic acid or PLA. These PLA plastics are recyclable and biodegradable under the right conditions, making them a more sustainable alternative than oil based plastics, but they are not without issues of their own. PLA plastics have very limited availability right now and during the manufacturing process shrink less than oil based plastics, requiring new tooling. Depending on availability and demand the cost of a PLA tray could be significantly more expensive than its oil based counterpart. PLA plastic is also heavier and naturally a milky color making it impossible to have a clear product. We will be paying close attention to the development of PLA plastics and when realistically available there is no doubt that we will be offering it as an alternative too.
